A chatbot is a software program that holds text-based conversations with users, either rule-based following fixed flows or powered by AI language models.
Rule-based chatbots follow rigid decision trees, while AI chatbots understand free-form questions. For Swiss SMEs they cut website response times, but must be run in line with the revDSG when handling personal data.
